3 down, 2 to go!

It's so crazy I have officially finished 3 semesters of nursing school, and I only have 2 to go! Time is flying bye!! I'm excited to be done with all of the papers and projects, but I'm definitely nervous to graduate and have to take the nclex. I can't believe I'll be graduating a year from now!!! I've been told 4th semester is a tough one, but I just keep telling myself it is my last difficult semester before my capstone :)

I was a little nervous about my grades for this semester (because I did awful on my second mental health exam), but they ended up being pretty awesome. The only thing I'm waiting to find out now is if my mental health grade will go up or not. I got above an 850 on my mental health hesi, which should give me an extra 5 bonus points (but we'll see if they add them in. Fingers crossed!) Other than my B+ in mental health potentially getting bumped up to an A-, I got three A+s and one A- so I am pretty happy with how this semester turned out. I can only hope I can do as well next semester (unlikely lol). I've been told 4th semester is like 2nd and 3rd semester combined (and 2nd semester was hard on its own :/) I can only pray it's not that bad haha. The biggest thing I have learned though is to just take it one day at a time, otherwise the stress and anxiety with get the better of you.

Excited/nervous to spend an early christmas at my boyfriends parent's house. I love spending time with them, but I've never had a holiday with anyone else other than my family so I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm guessing I should expect for it to be super fun :) I'm very happy that my boyfriend's family is super awesome! I was crazy nervous when I first met them because I wasn't sure if they would like me (the "city girl") or not lol

Well, I'm still super indecisive as to whether I should get a job (whether it's a new job or going back to my old CNA job) or if I can get through the next semester without working. It's going to be a busy semester so I would really like to focus all of my attention on my studies, but this whole "need to be super careful as to how I spend my money" is not very fun :( Not that I'm not usually responsible with my money, but I would like to not have to worry about it when I would like to occasionally go out on a date with my boyfriend or if I want to fill up my gas tank so I can drive home for the weekend. My family has not been very happy that I haven't been able to come home as often as I usually do. I think they partially think that's because I have a boyfriend now, and in a way that is true because now I do my laundry at his place instead of having to go home to get my clothes washed. But the largest reason I haven't been going home is because I'm broke. It's also because I had a lot of busy work to do this semester (like essays and projects) and I just don't get much done when I go home so I had to stay at school to stay focused and get my work done. I miss my family a bunch and I'm so excited to see them over christmas and for a few weeks during my winter break! I will have to do some studying of dosage calce and advanced skills :/ but otherwise I will just have free time to hang with the fam.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to. Happy holidays!!

Busy busy busy

Super relieved my chronic illness paper and ethics analysis paper is completed and submitted! However, my work is not over (nor is it ever lol). I have an OB/peds exam , 3 mental health quizzes due, an OB care plan to write, and an childbirth education class paper to complete tomorrow. It's going to be a long day, but it will be pretty awesome once that is all finished.

Super excited for thanksgiving! Going to my boyfriends brother's apartment on wednesday and then to one of my relatives places on thursday. It will be nice to take a break from homework and school, and just enjoy spending time with family and friends :) I'm feeling pretty thankful for this semester almost being over :)

I am slightly disappointed however. I was suppose to get surgery (for my deviated septum) on christmas eve (supposedly). Then my mom called and told me she had made a mistake and the surgery was actually scheduled for november 24th, not december 24th. Well, november 24th happened to be the day I have two papers, 3 quizzes, and an OB/peds exam to take. Since my surgeon has no other days open to reschedule my surgery, it looks like I'll be waiting to get my nose fixed, which is a huge bummer because I was really looking forward to breathing normally again. But I know to just keep praying about it because God has a plan.

On the plus side, I can start looking for jobs over winter break and maybe work a little bit so I can stop feeling disappointed every time I look at my bank account lol happy (almost) thanksgiving!!

It's a little chilly...

My laptop finally is fixed!! It ended up being a loose wire so I am beyond excited that it was an easy fix :)

My life for the past week or so has been freezing. St. Cloud got attacked by snow so it has been cold and icy every since. I had OB clinicals today and had to be at the hospital by 5:50 this morning. They don't have any room for our coats on the unit so I was that crazy person running in the hospital parking lot with just my short sleeved scrub shirt on. It was a bit chilly. Clinicals went by super fast though which was nice and I got to hold new born babies, which always makes a happy day.

Now I will be writing my not-so-fun ethics paper in the library for the rest of the day. Wish me luck!

Almost the weekend!

Well, other than my struggle of a Monday (and my laptop freezing every two words I type) … my week has been going pretty great! I got to see three babies delivered during my OB clinical, had no class Wednesday, had an awesome mental health clinical today, and my friend Dan is coming to visit tonight!

The only bummer is that I have class pretty early tomorrow (so no sleeping in for me). Super pumped it’s almost the weekend (even though I have a never ending list of homework to do).

Struggle of a day

I had a mental health exam today that I felt pretty prepared for. My grade showed otherwise. After that I had a quiz on the Nurse Practice Act in ethics. That ended up being a short answer quiz (so we'll see how well that went). Overall, it has already been a long day. Trying not to stress about all of the upcoming papers, but really looking forward to my first OB clinical tomorrow! I'm really hoping OB is going to be somewhere that I see myself working in the future :)

Survived second semester of nursing! (by far my toughest semester yet)

Flu shot clinic (great experience!)

the start of my blog

I decided to create a blog because my best friend made one awhile back and it kinda looks like fun. So I thought I would give it a shot.

A little about me: I am a nursing student at St. Cloud State University and I'm loving it! I also have a boyfriend whom I am really in love with (which is pretty awesome). My family is fantastic and my friends are pretty awesome ;). Sometimes it can be a little difficult to balance my school work, love life, and social life but overall it's been going well.

I look forward to sharing fun experiences on this page and also venting about my not-so-fun / stressful days (because there are plenty of those days due to being a nursing student lol).
