Still in shock at finally being able to put "RN" at the end of my name :)

Well, I've been off orientation as a nurse for about a week now. It's been crazy busy, fun, scary, and stressful. It's exhausting at times, but I am loving meeting new people, and getting to care for others. The staff I work with is amazingly helpful. Hopefully I'm not driving them too crazy with all of my questions and asking for help ;) I am so blessed that God has put me in this job, and I look forward to learning new things everyday and gaining confidence/improving my skills as a nurse!

Brooke, RN, BSN!!!

Well ... I'm finally a RN, BSN! It feels so good to be done with nursing school and to have passed my boards :) It still feels unreal. I've finished my corporate orientation and now I'm going through my orientation on the floor with my preceptors. It's scary but also feels awesome to finally be out on the floor :)

For those in nursing school: just keep taking it one day at a time, take deeps breaths, and know that it is all so worth it!!

Struggle bus

This week as been a bit of a struggle .... and it's only wednesday. Monday was just overwhelming with exams, quizzes, presentations, and a surprise project added to my schedule that we only have a week to complete (which involved having to find someone with leukemia and do an interview with them) ... ummm, I don't know anyone with cancer so this could be a bit of a struggle lol. Then Tuesday I had my clinical at the wound care center. Driving home from clinical I got a flat tire :/ of course Joe was already at work at AAA was not answering my phone calls. After an hour of waiting in my car, I was able to get AAA to come out and change my tire (I should probably learn how to change my own tire). Today has been going fairly well but I don't want to jinx it. I got my pre-surgery physical done, my mantou, and dropped my flat tire off to get fixed :)

Hoping the rest of this week runs smoothly.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy belated Valentine's day!

This was my first valentine's day with an actual valentine :) It was awesome of course since I got to be with my awesome boyfriend all day. We made brunch together and then went out to dinner at Water's Edge. It was DELICIOUS! Hartze was nice enough to take a picture of use (since we never take pictures together lol). I'm very thankful and happy to have such an amazing guy to call my valentine.

Now back to the reality of of studying and other "fun" stuff. But this semester is going by CRAZY fast so I can't complain too much. So excited to see where this year takes me!

I also really like this product for straightening my hair or using the blow dryer so my hair doesn't get dry from the heat.

School, school, school

Soooo, really the only thing interesting I have to talk about now days is school lol (since all I basically do is study). It's been a pretty busy semester, but it is going super well. I love my med-surg and public health clinical (still dislike how long simchart takes though). Thankfully I'm done with simchart for awhile since I won't have clinical at the hospital for a few weeks and then I have a 2 patient assignment so I will be filling out a mini care plan instead :)

The only bummer about this semester being so busy is that I really don't have time to go home and visit the family :/ So it was really nice that my dad was able to come up yesterday. We went to red lobster :) I wish I could see the rest of my family (and I miss my kitty!). I'm looking forward to spring break because I will definitely get to spend time with my family since I'll be sitting at home recovering from my surgery. So excited to FINALLY get this surgery done so I can breath through my nose again :)

Also, I wanted to share two hair products that I LOVE using. It makes your hair amazingly soft. Either one is an awesome product (don't use both at the same time or your hair will be mega oily).

The first one is "renewing moroccan argan oil." This stuff if AMAZING! just make sure you apply a small amount and start from the ends of your hair (otherwise the top of your head can look greasy).

The second one is "Silk Essentials." With this product you start at the scalp and work your way down your hair. Make sure you use no more than 3 drops. A little bit goes a long way with this product!

happy 2015!

Soooo my new years eve was a little laid back this year to say the least .... I was planning on having a nice dinner, some champagne, and a romantic midnight kiss with my boyfriend. However, that did not occur. Instead my poor boyfriend got a really bad cold and fever. So I ended up taking care of him all day, and then went to bed at 10:30 lol crazy new years right? I'm just glad I seem to have gotten away with not getting sick from him and his roommate (at least as far as I can tell).

New years day I went home to my parents' place. It's been pretty awesome so far :) I've gotten to hang with my best friend (Nicole) for the last two days. We went shopping, had coffee, and went out for drinks. Tomorrow night we are going out on the town :) super pumped! Can't wait to get dressed up and have a fun night out.

I suppose since it's a new year I should probably come up with some new years resolutions ... so here they are:

1. Drink more water
2. Start lifting light weights and walking or exercising 3 times a week
3. Take my vitamins more regularly
4. Take actual grocery shopping trips (instead of running to the store for one meal) ... trying to buy healthy-ish things of course ;)

I suppose if I think of more I'll just share them later :)

Next up is studying for the upcoming semester and figuring out what I'm going to get Joe as a gift...
